Built in 1962, Matthew Perry's house is hailed as a great example of Mid-century architecture in the style of the Case Study Houses.

Friends star Matthew Perry, now a budding playwright, has listed his Mid-century Hollywood Hills mansion for a mere US$13.5 million (NZ$18.53 million).

And it appears the actor, who played Chandler Bing in the '90s sitcom and more recently starred in The Odd Couple, is looking to make a healthy profit. He has owned the house, in the Bird Streets neighbourhood high above Sunset Strip, since 2011, when he paid US$8.5 million for the property.

The listing agency, Partners Trust, describes Perry's house as a "magnificent Sunset Strip estate with some of the most stellar views imaginable".

"This custom home is a modern homage to the Case Study Houses, which redefined Mid-century architecture."

The house comes into its own at dusk when the lights of the city turn on.

Special features of the house, which was built in 1962, include fabulous entertaining areas, a one-of-a-kind master suite with a wall of glass that opens directly onto the pool, and a large screening room that provides a view directly into the glass-sided pool.

Or as the listing states: "A private Hollywood Hills oasis floating above the glorious city."
